Burlington Gymnastic Club Members Perform well at Elite Canada

Alex Tonkin turned in top-10 finishes in three of four events to finish fifth all-around at Elite Canada in Trois-Rivieres, Que.

The Burlington Gymnastics Club member was ninth on both bars and floor and was 10th on beam in the national novice division, which had 44 competitors. She finished 20th on beam.

”I feel really happy about my overall performance,” said Tonkin. “I hit 4-for-4 on the events for both days. Even though I had a good day one, my coaches asked me to tweak some of my skills for day two. I listened to my coaches and my scores went up… so that made me really happy.”

With noticeable improvement in her consistency in recent months, especially with regard to her upgraded skills on bars and floor, Alexandria said she felt confident and prepared for Elite Canada.

Alexis Didomizio finished 15th all-around in a field of 27 in the junior division thanks to a fifth-place finish on beam. With one of the highest degrees of difficulty on beam (5.300), Didomizio scored a 13.250, just half a point off the leader. She also one of eight qualifiers for the event final, finishing sixth.

She also turned in a strong sixth-place showing on vault where she scored a 13.450.

Didomizio was 12th on floor and 23rd on bars.
