Spring Cup, Canada’s largest invitational gymnastics competition, is being held this weekend in Burlington.
The Burlington Gymnastics Club, recently honoured as Gymnastics Canada’s Club of The Year, has been hosting the event for 27 years.
This year’s artistic and physical testing event will be held at Mainway Arena May 1–3.
The rhythmic competition will be held at the Haber Recreation Centre on Saturday. This year it will include athletes from the Rhythmic Special Olympics Team Ontario.
The club is welcoming athletes, coaches and their families from all over Ontario and Quebec.
The City of Burlington, in recognition of the BGC’s contributions to the community, has proclaimed Friday as “Burlington Gymnastics Club Day.”
The theme this year is “Spring Cup is Sweet!”with gymnasts competing in a fun environment.
For many athletes, who range in age from 4-28, Spring Cup is the grand finale for the season.
Spring Cup hosts a national level competition on Saturday afternoon, with athletes competing at an elite level. They’ll impress spectators by with their executing some of the sport’s most difficult skills.
On Sunday the event will feature a pairs competition, allowing two athletes to compete as a team.
