Glen Cooper Awarded the Stan Stenoff Career Coaching Award

Glen has coached artistic gymnastics for over 30 years; the last 14 years as Technical Director at the Burlington Gymnastics Club.

Glen is a quiet leader in the gym.  He is patient, kind and tactful in providing technical corrections, whether it be to his athletes or the coaching staff he oversees.  He has had a significant role over the years in nurturing fine young athletes into strong young women at the Burlington Gymnastics Club.

Glen has also given his time to the club’s Strategic Planning Committee in planning the layout of facilities.  He regularly visits the recreational sessions and provides recommendations for optimum use of equipment.  His area of expertise and sage advice is often sought by other coaches who view him as a valuable mentor.

This year, working with our Recreation Director, Glen developed the “Coach Acceleration Program”.  Recognizing the shortage of career competitive coaches in the industry and using our own club resources, this program has coaches shadow competitive coaches, of a higher level, to prepare them for the next level of certifications.  The program has been a hit with former gymnasts who have returned to the club in a new role.

Glen embraces the Burlington Gymnastics Club’s Mission Statement to development the whole person.  He is a stand-up citizen of great integrity and strong morals.
