Moors captured the bronze medal on vault Saturday before taking home top prize on floor Sunday. Moors’ overall score on floor had her tied with Olympian Catalina Ponor of Romania, but her increased level of difficulty gave her the advantage and the gold medal.

“This was my first World Challenge Cup, so it was a new experience for me,” said Moors. “I had an uncomfortable landing on vault during podium training so I’m really pleased that I was able pull through and qualify to two events. I’m excited that I was able to perform a good routine and take the gold medal on floor exercise. It was a long wait between the first warm-up, the thirty-second warm-up, and my routine. I’m pleased that I was able to do my job despite the wait. I’m happy for my medal on vault, as it was my first World Cup medal, and I didn’t even do my hardest difficulty. Going into Worlds, I plan on working hard to make sure that I can perform all of my routines as consistently as possible. With Worlds in Canada it would be great to have great performances.”

Rio 2016 Olympian Rose Woo of Brossard, QC also had a great competition, winning a bronze medal in the uneven bars finals on Saturday.

“I’m happy that I was able to do my routines well and I’m pleased that they are at this level at this point in the season, as it’s still early,” said Woo following competition. “I feel that I’m on the right path in my progress for the season. I was very happy for my medal on uneven bars, the competition here was at a high level so winning a medal was very satisfying.”

René Cournoyer of Repentigny, QC made the finals in rings and high bar but failed to medal in both events. Cournoyer finished sixth on high bar after a mistake during his routine but was happy to achieve his goal of competing with three Tkatchev elements.

“I’m really proud of my routine,” said Cournoyer following his bar final. “It was a new routine so the end was a little difficult but I know I’ll be able to perfect it for the World Championships.”

Thierry Pellerin of Lévis, QC finished 26th overall in the pommel horse event.

This is the final World Cup for these athletes before they compete for Team Canada at the 2017 World Championships in Montreal, QC from October 2nd to 8th. For more information on which athletes will be joining them to form the rest of Team Canada, click here.
