As the Burlington Gymnastics Club Recreation Coordinator, you are responsible for working within the Burlington Gymnastics Club Inc. (BGC) By-Laws / Policies and Procedures and abiding to the clubs Mission, Values and Teaching Principles. Your duties include, but are not limited to, certain areas of responsibility associated with: program planning; organization; implementation; administration; communication and evaluation.
REPORTS TO
The Recreation Coordinator reports to the Recreation Manager
LEADERSHIP
- Facilitate a culture of open and honest communication by actively participating and contributing to team meetings, encouraging a generation of new ideas.
- Provide leadership to motivate and develop individual and team performances.
- Foster a diverse and inclusive environment.
- Cultivate a Safe Sport environment for all.
- Share knowledge and experience with staff to achieve the highest standards of professionalism.
ADMINISTRATION
- Proficient in the club’s registration software
- Manage, plan and execute facility bookings i.e. birthday parties, special events, private bookings, school visits, etc.
- Knowledgeable about all club programs and services and respond to customer inquiries in a timely manner i.e. phone, email, website, in person, etc.
- Assist recreation staff in administering and executing programs as required
- Maintain facility display boards (indoor and outdoor) and annual recreational calendar of events
- Support staff when replacement coaches are required
- Support Volunteer In Training (VIT) and Coaches In Training (CIT) onboarding
- Manage and administer the day-to-day facility supplies i.e. party, craft, camp, facility, etc.) and, equipment inventory and safety checklist
- Input athlete skill charts in registration software
- Attend recreation staff meetings as required
PROGRAM PLANNING
- Oversee the club Performance Team tryouts, uniforms, schedules and special events and assist with competitive program tryouts as required
- Plan, execute and evaluate in-house showcases, birthday parties, camps, open gyms, community events, etc.
- As required coach/supervise gymnasts adhering to sound principles of child development and skill level following GO and BGC curriculum and lesson plans
COMMUNICATION
- Assist with club social media posts and club communications
- Ensure the Recreation Manager and Executive Director are made aware of any situations that require escalation and/or could result in an operational/reputational/safety risk to the club and/or gymnast
PROFESSIONALISM
- Arrive at the gym 10 minutes prior to scheduled training times availing yourself to staff, parents or athletes for discussion or problem solving;
- Maintain confidentiality at all times in matters pertaining to athletes, parents, staff, club business, etc.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner when representing the club
- Act as a good ambassador for the BGC at all times, promoting the club, its overall programs, staff and athletes
- Wear approved club uniform at all times
- Adhere to BGC customer service standards
OVERALL CLUB INVOLVEMENT
- Ensure that the rules of the gym are followed by all and that a good example is set by yourself (i.e.: uniform, language, attitude, respect for all, etc.)
- Support club functions organized by staff, athletes, parents and promote the sport of gymnastics within the community as requested
- Assist with club hosted competitions and special events as required
- Ensure club facilities remain clean and tidy at all times
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION
- NCCP Foundations I trained
- Standard First Aid/CPR
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- High School graduate
HOURS PER WEEK: 30+ (weekday/evenings and weekends will be required)
