Artistic Individual apparatus finals took place for Ontario today.  With 10 medal events on the line, Ontario brought home a total of 7 golds, 1 silver and 2 bronze.

There were 4 apparatuses in the women’s event. Ontario’s Megan Roberts conquered the floor event, capturing the gold medal. She didn’t stop there, Roberts captured gold in vault and silver in beam. Fellow Ontario gymnast Sam Borges placed 5th in vault. Mariana Colussi-Pelaez, Team Ontario’s flag bearer in the Opening Ceremonies, competed in beam and uneven bars placing 6th and 7th respectively. Sarah Posidis Kowalski competed on the uneven bars and placed 4th.

The men’s event consisted of 6 apparatuses. All around individual gold medalist Justin Karstadt, competing at his second Canada Winter Games, tied for gold with fellow Ontario Gymnast Jeremy Bartholomeusz in vault. Karstadt also brought home gold in Pommel Horse and bronze in parallel bars. Samuel Zakutney got Ontario some hardware by placing first in parallel bars. Zakutney placed 4th on the floor and horizontal bars and 6th on rings. Teammate Anthony Zawfik placed 5th on the horizontal bar, 6th on pommel horse and 8th on the floor.

Team Ontario had an amazing finish tonight at artistic gymnastics.  A big congratulations to the Gymnasts for bringing their A game not only in competition but cheering too!
