Please be advised that Andrei Gorodetski and Valentina Kashkevich have been suspended for a period of six months from all activities of Gymnastics Ontario and will be under a probationary period for a further year, all of which in accordance with Gymnastics Ontario’s Discipline and Complaints Policy.

Gymnastics Ontario appointed a Case Manager after receiving allegations concerning Mr. Gorodetski and Ms. Kashkevich, as per our Discipline and Complaint Policy (see link above).

Following a hearing, it was found that it was more likely than not that Mr. Gorodetski and Ms. Kashkevich breached:

  1. sub-sections 8(a)(ii)(iv)(vi)(ix) and (xii) of Gymnastics Ontario’s Abuse Policy; and
  2. sub-sections 6(a)(i)(ii)(iii)(v) and 8(a)(g) of Gymnastics Ontario’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy.

Among other findings of fact, the Discipline Panel appointed to consider the allegations against Mr. Gorodetski and Ms. Kashkevich found that coaching practices carried out were against the best interests of the athletes’ development as a whole person.

In addition to the suspension, Mr. Gorodetski and Ms. Kashkevich must complete multiple courses, and only following completion of the required courses they may apply to have their suspensions lifted. However, the suspension may be lifted or suspended no earlier than October 25, 2024, on proof to the Chief Executive Officer of Gymnastics Ontario of the forementioned courses as per the Decision of Discipline Panel.
