MacLennan, Smith & Sendel Finish Well at Trampoline World Cup in Italy

rosie  Rosie MacLennan of Toronto, ON, led Canadian athletes this weekend at the Trampoline Gymnastics World Cup in Italy, finishing 6th overall.

 

 

The preliminary round saw great performances on the women’s side . . . MacLennan sat 7th heading into the finals on Sunday with a score of 99.910, both her teammates narrowly missing out on advancing.  Samantha Smith of Richmond Hill, ON, finished in 10th place, scoring 98.920 and 0.37 points out of the finals.  Samantha Sendel of Aurora, ON, rounded out the Sendel - SofiaCanadian group finishing in 13th with a score of 98.445.

 

 

“I am very proud of the performances by our Canadian women,” said Stephan Duchesne, High Performance Director for trampoline gymnastics at Gymnastics Canada. “The preparation for the Olympic Games is going well and the results this weekend show a constant progression with Rosie over the last couple months. She did compete with the highest level of difficulty in the finals, but it wasn’t enough to make a difference today.”

 

 

MacLennan scored 53.375 to finished 6th in the finals.  Li Dan of China, who dominated throughout the entire competition, took gold with a score of 56.975. “Overall this competition left me wanting more,” said smith-finals-at-worlds-2015-1MacLennan, “I know where I need to put my focus for next week’s World Cup in Switzerland and the following weeks of training at home. I am happy that I had the chance to compete my three triple routines but definitely left some room for improvement.”
