MISSISSAUGA, Ont — Maegan Chant of Waterdown, Ont., just missed winning a bronze medal in the women’s vault at the Senior Pan American Gymnastics Championships on Sunday and had to settle for fourth place in the eight-woman final.
Mykayla Skinner of the U.S won gold with 15.037 pints for her two vaults. Cubans Yesenia Nunez Ferrera and Elena Herrero Torres took the silver and bronze with scores of 14.400 and 14.112 respectively.
Chant, the only Canadian woman to qualify for a final after Friday’s qualification round, was a close fourth with 13.962 points.
The competition concludes on Monday with Jackson Payne of Edmonton going for a medal in the men’s high bar final.
