Mariya Kovtun – Coach of the Year – Rhythmic – High Performance

Mariya has a Master of Sport in rhythmic gymnastics, is an NCCP Level 3 coach, a national level 1 judge and a very talented choreographer.

 

Mariya joined the Burlington Gymnastics Club rhythmic program in 2013 and became head coach in 2022.  She has coached athletes at all levels and her athletes have achieved many accomplishments.

 

In 2023 three gymnasts had podium finishes at Elite Canada, Canadian Championships and FIG Miss Valentine.  Two Burlington gymnasts received high performance status and were named to Canada’s junior/senior national team.  They will represent Canada at the Portimao International in Portugal in 2024.

 

Mariya’s coaching talents have not gone unnoticed receiving many accolades including the 2020 Gymnastics Ontario Development/Provincial coach of the year and the 2023 Burlington Sport Alliance coach of the year.  In 2023 she was also chosen to participate in the rhythmic gymnastics national team coaches leadership program.

 

Her talents, dedication and commitment to her athletes and the sport is unwavering.  She is devoted to her profession and is constantly advancing her coaching and leadership skills.
