Canada’s top rhythmic gymnasts gave it their all at the 34th Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Stuttgart, Germany September 7-13th.
Having placed 19th Overall, the GCG group “were happy with their performance but… weren’t happy not to qualify [for the Olympics],” Canadian national team director Teresa Orr told the CBC.
In individual all arounds, Ontarian gymnasts Patricia Bezzoubenko (Salut RG) placed 31st overall, followed by Carmen Whelan (Silhouettes of York) in 60th, while Katherine Uchida (Jusco RGC) placed 83rd in clubs and 106th in ribbon. This was Whelan and Uchida’s first World Championships.
Patricia’s performance won her a spot in the final qualification event to be held in April.
