OTTAWA, ON (June 28, 2017) – Gymnastics Canada is pleased to announce the athletes who have been named to the 2017-2018 women’s artistic gymnastics national team following a selection process that included results from the 2017 Elite Canada competition and the 2017 Canadian Championships.
“We are very excited about the future of gymnastics in Canada,” said Dave Brubaker, national team director for women’s artistic gymnastics at Gymnastics Canada. “Our athlete pool is deeper than ever with a high retention of our most successful athletes in history, so that, combined with a strong field of junior athletes and an excellent field of future prospects in the novice age group will enable us to build an excellent program for 2020 and 2024.”
Highlights on the competition calendar for women’s artistic gymnastics this year include the 2017 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Montreal from October 2-8, the 2017 Universiade in Taipei, TWN in August, and the World Challenge Cups in the fall.
