This past weekend athletes competed at the 2017 Elite Canada in Halifax, Nova Scotia at the Canada Games Centre.
Elite Canada brings together the top athletes from across Canada from the novice, junior and senior categories.
Elite Canada is one of the primary meets at which national team status is determined. Gymnastics seek qualification for High Performance Status, which gives them the right to compete at Canadian Championships and be eligible to be considered for national teams and potential international assignments.
Ontario athletes took to the competition floor Friday with the Novice qualifications and Senior All Around competition, which Jade Chrobok (Gemini) took 1st place in the senior category and Brooklyn Moors (Dynamo) captured 3rd.
The competition continued on Saturday with All Around competition for the Novice and Junior categories. Ana Padurariu (Gemini) was named women’s junior champion with a giant score of 55.100. Jenna Sartoretto (Futures) tied for 2nd place in the Novice category.
The competition concluded on Sunday with the Junior and Senior Apparatus Final.
Ana Padurariu dominated the podium, coming in 1st on all apparatus (vault, bars, beam and floor), while Megan DiPiertro (Dynamo) cam 6th on Vault and 8th on Bars and Kiera Wai (East York) was awarded 7th on beam.

Sofia Baggio (Rideau) 3rd and Brooklyn Moors 5th
BARS
Jessica Dowling (Dynamo) 1st, Jade Chrobok (Gemini) 2nd, Lindsay Chia (Rose City) 6th, Alexis Didomizio (Burlington) 7th
BEAM
Jade Chrobok (Gemini ) 2nd, Megan Roberts (East York) 4th, Brooklyn Moors (Dynamo) 6th and Lindsay Chia (Rose City) 8th
FLOOR
Jade Chrobok (Gemini) 1st, Megan Roberts (East York) 2nd, Brooklyn Moors (Dynamo) 5th and Madeline Straker (Manjak’s) 6th
