All Clubs,
As per the announcement earlier this afternoon York Region will be going to Stage 2 as of Monday October 19 at 12:01 am. You will find attached the Ontario Regulation 572/20 (Rules for Areas in Stage 2), or you may click the hyperlink to access the document. You should reference Page 7 | Section 13. (1) Subsections 1-10.
Our understanding and interpretation is that teams (competitive) may train but MUST follow the rule in subsection 3. (see excerpt that follows). For clarity, there should not be any recreational program activities. Also, 10 people per room requirement is applicable for a 5,000 square foot space or a 15,000 square foot space. Separate apparatus is not a room when determining a space.
- The total number of members of the public permitted to be in a class, organized program or organized activity at the facility cannot exceed 10 people and each class, organized program or organized activity must take place in a separate room.
However, local public health units do have the authority to add on restrictions. So if they say a business must close even if the Province says it can operate with up to 10 people, the local public health unit supersedes the Province.
We will continue to try to influence the Province of Ontario on its impact to our member clubs. In the meantime we would encourage you to make the best use of the Federal and or Provincial programs to assist you during this time.
Sincerely,
Dave Sandford
