Hello,
Unfortunately, I do not have very good news for clubs in the regions of Ottawa, Peel and Toronto. The rules for areas in Stage 2 can be accessed via the following hyperlink Ontario Regulation 572/20. You should reference Page 7 | Section 13. (1) Subsections 1-10.
Our understanding and interpretation is that teams (competitive) may train but MUST follow the rule in subsection 3. (see excerpt that follows).
- The total number of members of the public permitted to be in a class, organized program or organized activity at the facility cannot exceed 10 people and each class, organized program or organized activity must take place in a separate room.
However, local public health units do have the authority to add on restrictions. So if they say a business must close even if the Province says it can operate with up to 10 people, the local public health unit supersedes the Province.
I realize how difficult this is to the gymnastics communities in these regions because I am also walking in your shoes, as are members of the GO Board of Director’s with this rollback to Stage 2. We will continue to try to influence the Province of Ontario on its impact to our member clubs.
Sincerely,
Dave Sandford
