Whitby Gymnastics is Seeking a Recreational Program Coordinator

Recreational Program Coordinator Responsibilities:


Provide leadership for all staff and programs Whitby Gymnastics and Circus Centre working within all the Recreational Programs. Instruct participants, oversee safety, and supervise instructors, staff and volunteers. This position is directly responsible for the training, communication, instruction, and coaching primarily involving recreational gymnastics, circus, and ninja programs. Administrative duties split with coaching hours to create a full-time position.


Specific Job Duties:


  • Plan, prepare and supervise weekly, session and yearly program theme and practice schedules.
  • Work cooperatively with Head Coach, other program coordinators, office staff and volunteers.
  • Lead training and development of junior coaches and volunteers.
  • Work with Head Coach on master class schedule offered to members.
  • Advanced knowledge about the in-house level system.
  • Strong skills in conflict management and professional communication.
  • Staff scheduling and upholding staff attendance protocols.
  • Prepare and complete in-gym rotation schedules for all classes running.
  • Plan and develop new gymnastics related programs and services.
  • Monitor facility equipment for safety, maintenance, and replacement needs.
  • Host and attend various continuing education meetings, workshops and seminars.
  • Organize and manage host competitions for in-house events and fundraisers.
  • Provide timely and accurate communication with parents/guardians of participants.
  • Keep office staff informed of any recreational registration changes or special circumstances.
  • Oversee recreational coach’s performance; give regular feedback.
  • Provide recreational coaches with the necessary information and materials to be effective in their positions.
  • Oversee session report cards for all athletes within the Recreational Program.
  • Ensure a positive attitude and atmosphere in the facility at all times.

  • Always promote a positive attitude and opinion about Whitby Gymnastics and Circus Centre and its programs and staff.
  • Maintain a well groomed appearance. Professional sport attire is acceptable.
  • Communicate with respect and professionalism at all times. Portray a pleasant disposition.
  • Be present and available to assist during special events.
  • Passion for recreational programming and learning.

Software Knowledge:

  • Jackrabbit Managing Systems
  • Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Internet and Email

Education and Qualifications

  • Minimum N.C.C.P. Level 2
  • Valid First Aid and CPR
  • Risk Management and Respect in Sport online course
  • Post-Secondary Sport Management or Minimum 2 years in a leadership role
  • Organizational Astuteness, Managing Processes, Process Improvement, Reporting Skills, Training, Client Relations, Supports Innovation, Developing Standards, Administrative Writing Skills, Industry Contact Relations, Proven Technique Success.


Position Classification: Program Management

Term: Permanent Full -Time

Hours: 30 – 40 hours per week, includes days, evenings and weekends

Compensation: Salary based on experience. Negotiable.
