Yellowknife Gymnastics Club is Seeking a Full Time Head Coach

Head Coach – Full-Time Position

 

The Yellowknife Gymnastics Club is a non-profit organization run by a volunteer Board of Directors and relies on parents, athletes, and the community-at-large who support the YKGC through volunteering and fundraising.

 

We are looking for an energetic, self-motivated, creative, driven, and organized individual.  They will be team oriented, love working with kids, and committed to providing exceptional quality gymnastics in a safe, respectful, and mindful environment.

This position reports directly to the Board of Directors and works closely with the General Manager of the YKGC. This position is flexible with the working hours as long as a schedule is created that works for the YKGC Competitive and Recreational programs. This position will require some travel as our competitive athletes do compete across the country.

 

Starting Salary: $75,000.00, increased based on experience and qualifications.

 

Accepting out of town applicants. A moving allowance will be provided for the right individual.

 

 

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

 

  • NCCP Competitive 2 Introduction Advanced trained and certified.
  • First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Respect in Sports
  • Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector

 

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

 

  • Experience working with children
  • 2 years minimum of direct competitive coaching experience
  • NCCP Trampoline 2 trained, willing to certify within 6 months.
  • Both MAG/WAG Certification preferred

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & SKILLS SET:

 

  • Strong class management skills and understanding of Junior Olympic, Xcel, CCP, and Provincial code of points.
  • A minimum of 30 hours coaching per week. This can include daytime, evening and/or weekend hours.
  • Input monthly evaluations, create lesson plans, and create yearly training plans as required.
  • Coach WAG/MAG program as determined by the Board of YKGC
  • Organize class groups and structures
  • Work collaboratively with coaches by delegating, planning, communication, and coaching responsibilities within WAG/MAG and recreational programs
  • Develops and ensures the effective delivery of short and long term goals of athletes and the YKGC
  • Actively recruit and develop new athletes and coaches
  • Provide mentorship opportunities for coaches under supervision
